Roero
is an homogeneous land, it is bounded
by Tanaro river to the south, bordering
the provinces of Asti and Turin to the
south-east and north and to the highway
61 to the west. Roero hills are Asti hills
west edge and they extend on the left
of Tanaro river. |
|
The
land has homogeneous geo-morphological
characteristics and a cultural identity
originated in periods of strong historical
aggregation and cohesion. It includes
24 villages and one of them is in the
province of Asti (Cisterna), together
with a piece of Albania, which is on the
left of Tanaro. |
| Flora
and fauna original wild nature together
with the incredible beauty of the “Rocche”
(the fortresses) make this land one of
Piedmont most unpolluted areas. |
| Roero
is a land with many economic resources:
the most renown wines are produced here,
Arneis, Roero, Nebbiolo, Moscato, Dolcetto
and Favorita. Tanaro fertile valley, from
Bra to Govone, is a land covered with
vegetables and fruit cultivations, “Madernassa”
pears from Vezza d’Alba, the asparagus
from Montà, the chestnuts from
the Rocche villages, the peaches from
Canale, honey, mushrooms and truffles. |
Going
around from a place to an other, the view
gets lost in a mosaic of medieval little
villages, wonderful castles and towers,
green hills, where orchards, hazel groves,
woodlands and vineyards grow intertwined,
this is the result of man’s work. |
|
All
this is revealed in a land that in spring
blooms delightfully, becoming then a harmony
of colours and nuances in autumn. |
